He was most recently Senior Vice – President, General Merchandise Manager for SAM’S CLUB, a division of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. In this position, Michael was responsible for the merchandising and supply chain functions for the Dry Grocery, Beverage, and Tobacco business in the Clubs. Mr. Heintzman joined the company in 1998 as Vice President, General Merchandise Manager of the fresh division and was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2002.
Prior to joining the company, Michael was the president and CEO of Acme Markets of Virginia. He also served as a Senior Vice President of Merchandising for Bruno’s, Inc. in Birmingham, Alabama and Vice President of merchandising for The Kroger Co. in Detroit, Michigan.
Michael was a 2007 recipient of the Sam Walton Entrepreneur Award for his for his work with the Packaging Sustainable Value Network (SVN), a 2008 recipient of the Unity Champion Award for his work in Diversity as Executive Sponsor of Tribal Voices ARG, and earned the Sam Walton Award of Excellence (Blue Coat) in 2009 for his years of delivering profitable growth to the SAM’S CLUB division.
Heintzman graduated from the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky, with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.
